About NOVA Kettlebells
NOVA Kettlebells primarily operates in Purcellville, VA. As the name implies, we specialize in kettlebell training, particularly what's known as "hardstyle". We train using "anti-glycolytic" methods rather than typical "metcons", targeting specific energy system adaptations. Kettlebells check most of the boxes for an individual's fitness needs, especially someone who has a demanding job or participates in a sport or other strenuous physical activity.
Our programming also heavily features joint and tissue specific training from Functional Range Systems. To build real mobility, you have to work for, not just hope for it. This system allows us to meet that need.

I'm a StrongFirst Elite instructor, certified in all three branches of StrongFirst's system. In 2016 I achieved my kettlebell instructor certification (SFG1) with them and have been teaching a select number of clients as well as small group classes since then. I frequently assist at local StrongFirst events, and am always working on some sort of continuing education goal. I love "nerding out" and being a student of fitness! In the fall of 2022, I decided to pursue being a full-time trainer.
My qualifications include certifications with Functional Range Systems, Functional Movement Systems, and Ground Force Method, as well as CPR, AED, and basic first aid. I'm an ACE certified personal trainer. I'm a Gracie jiujitsu blue belt and assist teaching the basic curriculum at Mastery Jiujitsu in Leesburg, VA. I'm a former black belt with the Shurite Kempo Technique Association and the World Tang Soo Do Association.

About Functional Ranges Systems
While most systems of training focus on the "external", i.e. named lifts like the bench press, Functional Range Systems focuses on the "internal. It is a practice to develop mobility, control, and healthy, strong joints and tissues. Starting with an assessment, this practice can be implemented for the individual or in a group setting. Rather than just hoping to build healthy bodies in our normal gym sessions, we can zero-in and focus on the exact adaptations we want to achieve, preparing ourselves to take on daily external stresses.
